to be going to form in the top echelons of the sport,
as Hrane Milosevic YT1AD used a big time performance
at 3V8BB to grab the claimed score lead over Jose Nunes
CT1BOH. Meanwhile, K1LZ has scored more than USA
favorite K5ZD.

2010 WRTC SPURS US CQ WW CW FIGHT
You didn't have to be East of the Mississippi River
in the US to feel the pressure of the single operator
competition in this year's CQ WW CW test, as the four
qualifying regions for the 2010 World Radiosport Team
Championships all featured some dynamic sub-plots.
N2IC v N5DX, N6MJ v K7RL and K6XX and K1LZ v K5ZD.

NO REST FOR TOPBAND IN ARRL 160
After a busy weekend in the CQ WW CW Contest, the
action continues this weekend on the Topband, as
US and Canadian hams take center stage in the ARRL
160 Meter contest. The defending champ is Jeff Briggs
K1ZM, who will have to make sure his brother Peter K3ZM doesn't
upset plans for a VY2ZM repeat victory.

"SHOOTOUT" EXPECTED IN CQ WW CW LP
The big question this year is can anyone stop Joseph
"Bud" Trench AA3B as he tries for his fourth consecutive
World Low Power victory from V26K in Antigua. Trench will
draw some big time challengers this year, as John Crovelli P40W drops
down from the High Power category and Scott Redd K0DQ
makes a return to CQ WW as P40Q.

N2IC LEADS SS CW; K6LL STREAK OVER
Steve London N2IC continues to hold the edge in the
2008 ARRL November Sweepstakes CW Contest, as the defending
champ from 2007 holds a 26 contact lead over Alexander Avramov LZ4AX, who claimed second place with an effort from WP3R in Puerto Rico. Other leaders include K0EU in Low Power and N6RO in Unlimited, who may have ended the seven year winning streak of Dave Hachadorian K6LL.

HC8A (N6KT) ROLLS INTO CQ WW SSB LEAD
Gunning for a record eighth CQ WW SSB Single Op title,
Rich Smith N6KT has the highest claimed score so far from
his operation at HC8A, with over 14 million points. In
second for now is Toni Linden CU2X/OH2UA at over 11 million.
Linden has a big lead in Europe, as does Randy Thompson
K5ZD in the USA.

K3LR GUNS FOR M/M CQ WW SSB REPEAT
Team K3LR is in great shape for a repeat victory in
the CQ WW SSB Contest, as they own an almost 2 million
point lead over W3LPL in the US Multi-Multi category.
WE3C meanwhile has a big lead as well in M/2.

W4PA QUITS COMPETITIVE CONTESTING
After years of going toe-to-toe with the top operators
in the world, Scott Robbins W4PA has announced that he
is walking away from ham radio contesting. "There simply isn't enough time to do all the things I want or need to do," Robbins wrote on his blog, "so some things have to give. Radio contesting is only one of them that has to go."

Ed Muns W0YK wasn't completely happy with his sleep management
or his bandplan strategy as he reviewed his P49X log, but the
top flight RTTY operator has the high claimed score for
the 2008 CQWW RTTY contest so far. While it's short of
the D4B world record, Muns leads by well over 2 million points.

UA9CLB GRABS EARLY LEAD IN WAE SSB
The big calls were out all over the world for the
54th running of the Worked All Europe SSB Contest, as
it was a qualifying event for the 2010 World Radiosport
Team Championships. Vadim Ovsiannikov UA9CLB posted the
top world score so far, while Doug Grant K1DG leads
the USA scores.

BOMBS, BULLETS DON'T STOP 4L0A IN WAE
The plan was pretty simple for UU4JMG and UU0JM, fly
from Ukraine to the Republic of Georgia for the WAE CW
contest and operate from 4L4WW. But as the contest began,
the story wasn't the WAE battle, but a real shooting war that erupted
not far away between Russian and Georgia troops. Not only
did the duo escape unharmed, but they have the high claimed
multi score as well in WAE CW.

With several top flight competitors on his heels,
Teddy Jiminez HI3TEJ remains in first place in the
radio-sport.net World Standings, as results from this
year's ARRL DX Contests and the 2007 CQ WW SSB test

ZD8Z LAYS CLAIM TO 2008 IARU LEAD
As expected, Jim Neiger N6TJ has the top claimed
single operator score so far in the 2008 IARU HF
Championships, as he claimed over 4 million points
from his operation at ZD8Z on Ascension Island.
That gives him a six figure lead over Jack Danielyan
RW3QC, who as 5B4AII, was the only other single op
to crack the 4 million point barrier this year.

CQWW ADMITS LOG CHECKING ERRORS
After public complaints about the accuracy of some log checks from the 2007 CQ WW DX SSB Contest, contest committee chief Bob Coxe K3EST has acknowledged some errors in the computer tabulation of some band-change penalties for multi-ops in the SSB test. Also an issue, what happens when a station busts their own call when sending in a log.

D4C, P40A LEAD AT WPX CW DEADLINE
At the log deadline for the 2008 CQ WPX CW contest,
D4C (LY2CY) is still the Single Op High Power leader, while
the low power top spot is now owned by P40A (KK9A.) In the
multi-op categories, CT9M owns the top score, but now there's
a new leader in Multi-Two.

ARRL 10 CHAMPS ALSO HAVE CLEAN LOGS
Signals may have been solid one second and gone the next, but that didn't show up in the logs of the winners in a radio-sport.net review of final scores in the 2007 ARRL 10 Meter Contest. Check to see how well you did compared to the field and find out which category winner had a perfect log.

D4C (LY2CY) & VE3DZ/VP9 LEAD WPX CW
A trip to the Cape Verde Islands seems to have paid
off for Lithuanian contester Jurgis Ignotas LY2CY, as
he holds the overall single operator lead in the 2008
CQ WPX CW Contest. The low power leader is Yuri Onipko VE3DZ,
who operated from the VP9GE QTH on Bermuda.
Meanwhile, CT9M leads all the multi-op entries, as there
are tight races for various titles in the US and Europe.
